FAQ
What is Scrib?
It's an evergreen literary agent database and a personalized query tracker for fiction writers pursuing traditional publication. It does the heavy load of agent research for you, keeps the data current, helps match you to best-fit agents, and offers an organized way to keep your agent query list organized and up-to-date.
Who is Scrib for?
Fiction writers who are actively querying agents, getting ready to, or want to get an early start on their agent list planning. Whether you're researching agents your first project or you're deep in the query trenches, Scrib is custom-built for you. Scrib works great for both writers querying for the first time as well as for those who have been through the querying gauntlet before.
Today Scrib focuses on adult fiction and agents based in North America. You'll find some coverage in the UK and beyond , but that it isn't where our product is specialized right now.
Will Scrib write my query letter?
No. Scrib is only for agent research and query tracking. The writing, editing, and revising stay yours.
Will Scrib read my manuscript?
Never. Scrib matches on the logline, genre, themes, and comps that you share in your project details. Your manuscript text, your query letter text, and any other writing stay out of Scrib entirely.
Will Scrib send queries for me?
No. You send every query yourself. Scrib gives you the research and the strategy layer to build your list and track your progress.
How current is the data?
Agent profiles show a Last Updated date. We refresh on a regular cadence, and the cadence varies by source. Social channels change fast, so we track those far more often than an agency website or a stated wish list, which change less often. We also track how often a given agent's or agency's information changes and adjust our cadence to match for that unique agent or agency. Each profile carries a date so you can see when it was last checked.
Do agents pay to be listed?
No, agents do not pay to be listed
Is my work used to train AI?
No. Your work isn't used to train AI, and we never sell data about you. Your intellectual property stays yours.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every tier comes with a seven-day free trial with full access. A card is required to start, and if you cancel during the trial you won't be charged.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. A monthly plan runs to the end of your current billing period. An annual plan covers 365 days from the day you signed up. You can cancel renewal whenever you like, and your access runs to the end of that window.
Where does the agent information come from?
Public sources where agents say what they want: agency pages, wish lists, interviews, podcasts, newsletters, and their social channels. Everything we monitor is public, and we respect the terms of the sources we use.
