Privacy Policy
Last Updated Date: September 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Scrib Life LLC (“Scrib,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information in connection with the Scrib website, platform, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to this Policy and our Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
1. Definitions
For purposes of this Policy:
- “Personal Information” means information that can reasonably identify an individual, including name, email address, account credentials, and similar identifiers.
- “Services” means the Scrib website (scrib.life), platform, and related hosted services provided by Scrib Life LLC.
- “User Content” means agent lists, query tracking data, manuscript metadata (genres, themes, loglines, comp titles), notes, and other materials that users create, upload, or make available through the Services. User Content does not include manuscript text, Scrib does not read, store, or analyze manuscripts.
- “Aggregated Data” means de-identified or anonymized information collected through the Services that cannot reasonably identify an individual and is therefore not included in the meaning of Personal Information.
- “Processing” means any operation performed on Personal Information, such as collection, storage, use, disclosure, transfer, or deletion.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account and registration information such as your name, email address, State and Country of residence, usernames and passwords.
- Waitlist registration information (email address).
- Payment information processed through third-party providers (e.g., Stripe). Scrib does not store full payment card details.
- User Content, including agent lists, query tracking data, manuscript metadata, and notes you create within the Services.
- Communications with us, including support requests and feedback.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and location.
- Activity data relating to your interactions with the Services, including pages viewed, features used, and session data.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 9, “Cookies and Tracking Technologies”).
Information from Third Parties
- Information from service providers or integrations (e.g., authentication services, analytics providers).
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
- To process transactions, manage billing, and provide customer support.
- To personalize the Services, including agent matching, recommendations, and features.
- To send updates, technical notices, and administrative communications.
- To send marketing communications you have opted into (e.g., waitlist updates, product announcements). You may unsubscribe at any time.
- To conduct research, analytics, and product development.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, security, and technical issues.
- To use for any other purpose for which we obtain your consent.
What we do not do: Scrib does not read, store, or analyze manuscript text. Fit matching is ordinary code. In Scrib's app, Anthropic through Vercel AI Gateway condenses publicly sourced agent wish-list text for administrator review; it does not receive writers' projects, notes, or tracker data. It is not creative writing assistance. Writer manuscript content (blurbs, query letters, synopses) is the writer's intellectual property and is never used for training, analytics, or sharing without explicit consent.
4. How We Share Information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted vendors who perform services on our behalf (e.g., Clerk for sign-in and accounts, Stripe for payment processing, Resend for email, Vercel for hosting and AI model routing, Neon for the database, PostHog for analytics and session recording, Attio for customer relationship management, Cloudflare Turnstile for bot checks, and Supademo for the in-app help centre and the Ask Scrib assistant). Supademo loads only when you open Help, and it runs in your browser while Help is open. It then receives technical information (IP address, browser and device details), the site address, and anything you type into Ask Scrib. Scrib's app sends publicly sourced agent wish-list text to Anthropic through Vercel AI Gateway for administrator review. Separate internal enrichment workflows can send captured public agent or podcast source text to Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek (through OpenCode), or a model routed through OpenRouter, depending on the configured backend; these workflows do not receive writers' projects, notes, or tracker data.
- Legal and Compliance: When required by law, subpoena, court order, or legal process, or to protect our legal rights, users, or others.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or financing.
- Consent: In addition to the reasons for disclosure above, we may also disclose your personal information upon your consent.
If you register for or use our services, request information or otherwise engage with us, and such activities require us to share your personal information with a service provider or other third party, then you hereby consent to such disclosure.
What we do not do: We do not sell your Personal Information. We do not share your User Content (agent lists, query tracking data, notes, manuscript metadata) with other users. Your workspace is private by default.
5. Links to Other Websites; Third-Party Disclosures
As a resource to you, the Site may include links to third-party websites (e.g., social media) or provide you the opportunity to disclose information directly to third parties (e.g., credit card processors). Our Privacy Policy does not apply to such third-party websites or organizations. You assume all privacy, security, and other risks associated with providing any data, including personal information, to third parties via the Services. For a description of the privacy protections associated with providing information to third parties, you should refer to the privacy statements, if any, provided by those third parties.
6. Data Retention
We retain Personal Information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
- Account Information: Retained for the duration of your account and a reasonable period thereafter.
- User Content: Retained as long as your account is active unless you delete it or request deletion.
- Account Deletion: When you delete your account, Scrib attempts to erase the associated PostHog person, events, and session recordings, and any Resend contact. A failed erasure request alerts an operator. Resend sent-email logs are not erased through this process.
- Waitlist Information: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Payment Information: Retained only as long as necessary to process transactions and comply with financial regulations.
7. Data Security
Scrib uses appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect Personal Information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include:
- Encryption: Personal Information is encrypted during transmission (TLS 1.2+) and, where applicable, at rest (AES-256).
- Access Controls: Access to Personal Information is restricted to authorized personnel with a legitimate business need.
- Monitoring: Systems are monitored for potential vulnerabilities and security incidents.
- Incident Response: Procedures are in place to detect, investigate, and respond to data breaches in accordance with applicable laws.
Despite these safeguards, no system can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for safeguarding account credentials and should notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorized access.
